Description: Casa El Pósito stands out among all small houses of the village for its beauty and size. Resembling a "manor" house, it was used to keep the spare corn that was later sorted out when the sortage came. This happened back in the history at least as far as the XVI century. Now, the house has been restored for turistic use without resting its authenticity. It has two stories so that the kitchen-dining room occupies a comon space and keeps a rustic atmosphere with a modern functional sense. The walls has been kept simply whitewashed, so that dark carpentry of windows and big wooden door of entrance, together with floors and ceilings make up a whole strong two-colour contrast.
There is a large confortable, simply and attractive saloon where the old furniture combines with modern functionality. Two large double bedrooms with two spare beds as well occupy the downstairs, both equiped with own bathrooms; both rooms have access to the surrounding ground of the house.![]() | |

An area in the south-east of La Palma which includes the islands airport. Mazo stretches from the forested heights of the Cumbre Vieja mountain ridge to the rugged coastline. Here you cn watch the planes land.
The church Ntra. Sra. de Los Dolores dates from the 18th century and is a good example of a building from those times.
Every weekend there is a farmers market in Mazo, where local products can be tasted and purchased.
Take a walk through the Parque Arqueológico de Belmaco and discover the world of the ancient peoples of La Palma.
In May Mazo celebrates the festival of Corpus Christi. The streets of the village (El Pueblo) are decorated with mosaics, cloth, arches, crosses and shields made from natural products including flower petals, seeds and rice.
There are more handicrafts to be seen in the museum Casa Roja, especially embroidery which is a speciality of the island.
Lovers of spectacular views should not miss Las Toscas, at 736 metres. |
